Paula Jimenez Born in the bountiful state of Jalisco, land of the Tequila and the Mariachi in Mexico, Paula Jimenez entered into a family rich with culinary culture hosted by a Mexican father, Spanish mother, and Lebanese grandparents. As a young girl, Paula showed a keen interest in cooking and soon became the eager assistant to her Lebanese grandmother, where they spent many long hours in the kitchen cooking and creating delicious new and traditional recipes. After receiving her degree from Universidad del Valle de Mexico in Public Relations, Paula decided to pursue her interest in the culinary industry and worked as a floor manager for one of Anderson’s group restaurants, JJ Charlie’s (Winner of the Prize of Excellency, 1989) located in Mexico City. Paula worked side-by-side with the managing team designing, creating, and approving all dishes for the restaurant’s breakfast service. Later she worked as an assistant chef for Lancers Satellite Restaurant in Mexico City, where she improved her culinary skills and mastered one of her specialties, “Huitlacoche Crepes”, a Mexican delicatessen. Ms. Jimenez has been in South Florida for almost ten years. Drawn by its infusion of cultures, Ms. Jimenez moved to Miami in order to increase her exposure to Caribbean and American cuisine and apply it to her extensive knowledge of Mexican, Spanish, and Mediterranean cooking. She has been an active member in the Cooking Club of America and has had original recipes published in the Vizcaya Volunteer Guides’ Cookbook. Upon her huge success in giving private cooking lessons to neighborhood friends, Ms. Jimenez decided to pursue her lifelong dream while simultaneously meeting a much- needed service in Miami Beach with the opening of her personal chef service, SOBE Chef. SOBE Chef not only offers custom-designed gourmet meals to clients in their homes, but also caters for parties and other special events. Ms. Jimenez resides in Miami Beach with her husband
and her son. |
